October 8 - Bargaining Update

10/8/21 CWA Bargaining Update

We received a comprehensive proposal from Catholic Health last night at 10pm.  We are still very far apart.   Here are some of the key open items:

  • There is no retroactive pay on the table. Under management’s proposal, the raises would go in effect once the contract is ratified.
  • There is still red circling and lump sums.  In addition (just as an example), under their current proposal Mercy RNs at Step 10 would receive a 3% raise but be off the scale.
  • We have moved closer on staffing, but we want to make sure the language is strong so that we don’t have a repeat of the 2016 agreement.
  • Mandatory Overtime for STC is still on the table.
  • Prescription Drug and Co-Pay Increases are still on the table

As you will see from the table below, there are still many open items.   We have heard loud and clear from the membership that you do not want to vote multiple times on the contract as we did in 2012.  You do not want a contract like 2016 that only improves staffing for 2 years and then everything disintegrates.

The committee is working hard to reach a complete, comprehensive agreement.  We will not settle until that is done.

We will be scheduling another town hall meeting for early next week.
